Almost a week after the Leather Pride in Amsterdam I finally got some time to do a little write up of this small, but fully packed event.
We arrived on Thursday, and soon found our self in the Mr. B store. It ended with a couple of high boots, and me naked on the hotel room polishing them – the shine on the boots must at least be as good as the shine in the leather pants. Of course, it did not have to be done naked, but I like the feeling of leather against the skin.
That night we went to the piss party at Dirty Dicks. It is not quite my thing, but my partner in crime/life/travel/love/play enjoys it. He had lots of fun drinking beer and finding some pig for some recycling. At one time one guy asked the bartender where the toilets were, and the answer he got was epic “You ask where toilets are? On a piss night? They are sitting all over the place.”
On Friday, we went to the bondage workshop with Master Dart and Sir Bart, quite an eyeopener. The subject was predicament bondage, let the submissive choose between the fast and painful or the slow and not so painful, at least not at first. The possibilities are endless. I went only to one workshop, while my partner for the rubber workshop as well. He got to try out a rubber sleep sack, it will be interesting to see if that is something he would like to repeat.
After a late dinner at Getto, we ended the night at Eagle. They had a bit earlier presented the Mr. Leather Amsterdam contestants. The place was packed with hot leather guys, even found a friend from Berlin there.
We lived some blocks south-west of Leidseplein, a 30-minute walk from Eagle and Dirty Dicks, especially in new boots. Five or ten minutes after we got back to our room, it knocked on the door. At four in the morning. Outside in the hotel corridor a guy in the beginning of his twenties stood and asked if he could be my slave for the night. I firmly said no and told him I wasn’t interested. After I had closed the door, I began to wonder if he lived at the hotel or if he had followed us. I hope he lived there…
What would a trip to Amsterdam be without a canal cruise? And on Saturday they had a leather canal cruise. It was a kind of meet and greet at Mr. B before we went to the boat. Here both Mr. Leather Amsterdam 2015 and the owner of Mr. B, said some words. The latter was talking about the importance of the leather community and the challenges we are experiencing. I say “we”, even though he was probably thinking mostly at Amsterdam, because the challenges are similar all over. If we want a community, we should use and support it.

The boat was almost full. Interesting people to talk to, and the scenery of Amsterdam from the canals are truly astonishing. Afterwards some of us went to The Web, a small bar that had a second-hand flea market, there was some interesting articles, but I did not get anything.
We were discussing what to do in the evening over dinner. The choice stood between going to the invasion party or to the BLUF party at Dirty Dicks. As we had to leave quite early, we decided to go to BLUF. It was full of leather guys, and I had several interesting conversations with both new and old friends. Several of them recommended the leather pride in Antwerp, we must see if it is possible.
This is one of the coolest venues I have visited in Amsterdam, a cruising club over three floors. It has, as the name suggests, a bit of a religious themed decoration. But I would be surprised if the building has ever been a church.
The top floor is a gallery, with some low couches and a sling. At the main floor you will find what you would expect at a dance club, but also a strip pole on the bar and a small private sling room. In the basement there is the bathroom, including showers and douche possibilities (both towels and disposable douche hoses can be bought in the bar). There was also a darkroom in the basement, and it is dark.
Even though it was a slow night (maybe 20-30 guys), those who were there was fun to play with.
This place gave a new meaning to the song “Take me to church” by Hozier. You can find the webpage for Club Church here.
After a week with Statfest, CSD auf der Spree and CSD in Berlin, and 30 degrees, my leather shirt began to show some white sweat marks on the back, chest and under the arms. And I thought “How the h*ll do I get this of”, it’s a Mr.B shirt to several hundred euros.
After some searching on the Internet i found several tips and tricks on how to clean leather jackets and pants. I summarise all of them like this:
- Use a mild cleaning agent, like something meant for baby skin.
As stronger agents might discolour or even destroy the leather.
- Rinse thoroughly with water to remove any residue of the soap.
Residue might itch and make the leather stiff.
- Dry slowly in normal room temperature.
If drying too fast the leather will become stiff and brittle.
- Apply leather conditioner before it is dry and afterwards.
This is to replace the moisture from the water with something more durable.
- Store it in a ventilated space, so it do not mould.
What I actually did
- Baby shampoo (without perfume)
- Black leather oil
- Leather Balsam
- Several sponges
- One for cleaning
- One for oil
- One for leather balsam
- A towel
- 30L plastic container
- One solid clothes hanger, with wide shoulders.
Checking the cleaning agent
I first of all took some baby shampoo on a part of the shirt where it would not be noticed it it stained. Just to be sure. Waited for some minutes and wiped it away. I could not see any difference (discolouring or similar).
Cleaning the shirt
I filled the container half full with water, added about 4-6 cl of baby shampoo and stirred well. Then I lay the shirt into the water, pressed out all the big air bubbles and used a sponge to wipe gently on the biggest spots. I pressed carefully on the shirt a couple of times to circulate the water, and I left it covered in water for 4-5 minutes before I took the shirt out.
The water becomes quite black after the colouring agent used in the shirt and the black leather oil which I have previously used on the shirt. So do not be alarmed if the soap water looks black/dark purple.
I pressed on the shirt to remove some soap water. Mind do not twist or squeeze the shirt it might damage it. After I had replaced the soap water with clean water I rinsed out the soap by pressing gently on the shirt. I replaced the water several times and repeated the process until I did not see any more soap bubbles. And yes, the water will still become a lighter shade of black/purple.
I carefully pressed out as much water as possible with a towel before I left it to dry on the clothes hanger for a couple of hours. I made sure to dry it in normal room temperature, without any heating. And also remove as much water as possible from the buttons so they would not rust.
After a couple of hours, the shirt was still soaking wet, I began the work of oiling the garment with black leather oil. I used black oil to replace any colour that might have been lost in the wash. Make sure to cover the whole piece, also inside the pockets, but not on the flesh side of the hide.
I did this the first time in the evening, repeated it the morning after, and after work. I left it to dry in as before. Feel free to oil it another time if you feel it needs it. When it was dry I used Renapur Leather Balsam, it contains different oils and bee wax, I covered the whole shirt. Inside the pockets, underneath the shoulder strap/passant, on the backside of the placket, everywhere the topside of the hide was visible.
I’m really satisfied with the result, it both looked and felt like new. And the most important part, I could not see any white areas.
From Oslo to Gothenburg it is about four hours by train. It is the second largest city in Sweden. I’m sorry to say that Gothenburg doesn’t seem to have much of a fetish scene, if any at all. Even though the city is big and inclusive of LGBTQ people. There is a Scandinavian Leather Man Göteborg club, but they did not have any events in the summer. Have to revisit when they have some kind of party or event.
We found a nice bar and restaurant just inside the moat, called “bee”. I’m not sure if it is a gay friendly straight bar or a straight friendly gay bar, the line is a bit blurry, if it exists at all. Good wine and nice service. It is the first place I have visited where two half bottles of wine is cheaper than one full bottle.
We visited “Liseberg”, it is an amusement park in the middle of the city. As I tweeted, some of the design of the area around the rides reminds you of other forms of amusement. Some a bit steampunk inspired, and other more like a modern factory maze. See more pictures under the tweet

Oslo Pride stated already last Friday, but it is first now I’m back in town after a short trip to London. Just in time to join most of the parties at SLM.
Tonight SLM Oslo have a young fetish party, where the age limit upwards is 35. Tomorrow (Thursday) it is an open fetish party, this time for everyone, also women are allowed to enter (that is not often). I’m not sure if I will go, early and long day on Friday. Then it is the Official leather pride at SLM, a party I’ll have to go to.
On Saturday the pride parade starts at twelve from Grønland. All the way to the Pride Village via Oslo Spektrum and Stortorvet. I will probably walk with SLM this year. That evening is the Pride closing party aka “Skeiv Natt” at Rockefeller Music Hall.
All week there is activities, stands and shows in the Pride Village. It is located in “Spikersuppa”, between the parliament and National Theatre.
Which reminds me that the Pride Village opens today at three o’clock, and I have to get into my leather and on my way. Will try to get some pictures out in a day or two.
