Different harness types

In my opinion a nice harness is one of the hottest thing a guy can wear. It has to be quite solid so I can give it a good pull without ruining it. Last weekend I got a question about different harness types, and I thought it was about time I finished this blog post.

There are several basic harness types, and if you are looking for your first harness there are a lot to choose from. As with everything else the same harness types might be known by different names. Below I have listed the most usual types with drawings, they might vary a bit in finish or minor details. And some of those details makes out the difference in the name.

I will not go into the material of the harness or if there are buckles and where they might be placed in this post. If you know of a harness you think I should have included in this list, let me know in the comment section.

This kind of harness is quite popular. You can get it with and without the ring in the middle in front. It is often known as a bulldog harness if it has the ring or crossbow harness if it doesn’t.

With the ring in the front you can add an extra strap with a cock ring in the other end, some call it cockstrap.

In the back it is often the same as in front. But I have seen it with an X on the back – the strap over the left shoulder returns under the right and the one over the right returns under the left.

4-Strap Harness

Top/4-Strap Harness

As one of the names describes so perfectly, it has 4 straps. Such a harness is also known as a top harness. Connected to one ring in front and one in the back. Often the ring on the back is placed a bit higher than the one in front. It is an basic design often used in other harnesses.

The Y-harness is almost the H-harness on its side. It can have a similar fastening in the back as it has in front, but it can also be one ring with all four straps fastened, just as the 4-strap harness. You can find it labelled as an English harness

As the H-harness, you can add a cock ring strap to this harness. Be sure to check the length of that one before you buy.

Sling/Shoulder Harness

Sling/Shoulder Harness

Shoulder harness is minimal in front, it has just a strap over each shoulder. In the back it can be like an H-harness or all four can be connected to one ring in the centre like the 4-strap harness.

Gladiator Harness

Gladiator Harness

the gladiator harness is almost a half H-harness. And it is the same in the back as in front. I have seen it called “Sea Dog harness”, but then it had a special fastening mechanism in front.

The upper body drawing are based on one I found on the image search on Google, I tried to find the original, but no success. If anyone know let me know.

Want a cockring?

A collection of cockings

Cockrings is mostly used to keep your cock hard for a longer time, but for some of the rings are more a part of their gear then for keeping blood in the penis. Maybe fasten to a harness or a jockstrap. In any case it is hot.

If you have never used a cockring before, you should find your size. The easiest way is to use a measuring tape and measure the girth of your cock (while hard) and balls at the root. Take the number and divide it by PI (3.1415) then you get the required inner diameter of your cockring. For instance if you measure 15.7 cm, you will require a cockring with 5 cm in inner diameter.

I recommend buying rubber rings with small thickness in some bigger and smaller sizes. Then you can easily cut it off with scissors if it is to small and not letting the blood back. It is a bit embarrassing going to the emergency room to ask for help to remove a steel ring.

As always there is a lot of different designs and materials. For instance steel, rubber and leather. The ring itself can be thin (3-5 mm) or thick (>10mm). Thick steel rings might also be in different finishes, like brushed and engraved. So you can always find something cool.

Like leather but don’t know where to start?

When you first find out that you like the look and feel of leather, you probably want it all, maybe a full leather uniform. But you might not want to use so much money at once. Here are some thoughts on where to start.

Start with identifying what type of leather article that gets you going. It might be a harness, a pair of gloves or a shirt. Then find a model you like. For instance there are lots of different types of pants and every one of those comes in several colors and looks. Start with an simple model, as it is easier to upgrade than downgrade. For instance, if you buy something with elaborate design and coloured piping, it might be hard to find something else to match without having it especially made for you. So keep it basic in the beginning.

The first things I bought was:

  1. Belt
  2. Cuff
  3. Harness

When you try it on remember that leather stretches quite a bit, so items that can’t be adjusted (like shirts and pants) should be tight.

Leather is expensive, and the best quality often cost more. But look around and try it on before buying anything. I have found better products to a nicer price just by checking all the stores I came across. Do not waste money on something you do not like, it should make you feel a bit more sexy, more man.

If you still do not know where to start, buy your self a black harness. It can be used with everything.

If you have any suggestions feel free to leave a comment.
