Oslo Pride stated already last Friday, but it is first now I’m back in town after a short trip to London. Just in time to join most of the parties at SLM.
Tonight SLM Oslo have a young fetish party, where the age limit upwards is 35. Tomorrow (Thursday) it is an open fetish party, this time for everyone, also women are allowed to enter (that is not often). I’m not sure if I will go, early and long day on Friday. Then it is the Official leather pride at SLM, a party I’ll have to go to.
On Saturday the pride parade starts at twelve from Grønland. All the way to the Pride Village via Oslo Spektrum and Stortorvet. I will probably walk with SLM this year. That evening is the Pride closing party aka “Skeiv Natt” at Rockefeller Music Hall.
All week there is activities, stands and shows in the Pride Village. It is located in “Spikersuppa”, between the parliament and National Theatre.
Which reminds me that the Pride Village opens today at three o’clock, and I have to get into my leather and on my way. Will try to get some pictures out in a day or two.
PS. Check out the whole program for Oslo Pride at oslopride.no
Well, it has been there for some time now. It is a store focusing on underwear and swimwear for men. Even if such stores are found in every big city it is quite unusual in Norway, it seems like Norwegians think male underwear shouldn’t be sexy.
The store is located in Tollbugata, just a couple of blocks from our main street “Karl Johan”.
This is the only store in Oslo (as far as I know) there you can find:
- Andrew Christian
This store is not directly fetish oriented, but you might find some cool stuff anyway. I hope that every guy in Oslo use this store, as I like that the concept has come to town. I’m going to find myself some bathing shorts later today.
Check out their web shop at 2be.fashion
The times moves a bit too fast, and the summer is here. And it is hot, if my leather shorts hadn’t been just a bit too short I would have used it out in public. The heat was never a problem when I lived in northern Norway.
Summer means that the holidays are coming up. In a couple of weeks, I’ll go to London for a long weekend. As I’m going with family it will probably be low key. But I have to do some shopping, I want some new toys and tools.
Then it is strait to Oslo pride. It lasts for a week. SLM Oslo has several parties this week. I will miss the first party on Saturday 18th as I’m not back from London yet. But on Wednesday I’ll be ready for “Young fetish night”, it is a party with both a lower and upper age limit. Often a good place to let young guys test out their fetishes and also recruit new members to SLM. On Thursday, SLM is open to everyone, also females. I’m not sure if I will join them, as that is not quite my cup of tea. But Friday is the “Oslo Leather Pride” party, a must for every leather man in and around Oslo. The parade is in Saturday the 24th, and that is the last day of Oslo Pride. The closing party at SLM is a more usual Fetish night.
Then my vacation starts for real, three weeks of not working (yea, right…). Not much planed yet, except for towards the end of July, I’m heading for Berlin for the Statfest and the CSD Berlin, this has become a tradition. The only thing I’m certain of is that I’m going on “CSD auf der Spree”, river boats with queer people. I’m going on the Leather and Fetish boat of course. I will probably come back to what happens in Berlin when it is a bit closer to departure.
Tonight is the biggest party of the year. No, it is not Eurovision Song Contest, but Valhall at SLM Oslo. This is the closest thing to leather/fetish pride you come in here in town. We will also celebrate the club’s 40 years anniversary, quite impressive isn’t it?
This weekend while the boring people are at Halloween parties, SLM Oslo invites to Black Pary. A party with strictly leather and rubber dress code. Just the way I like it.
They open the doors at 23:00 on Saturday. I hope all the dirty bastards in Oslo puts on some gear and join the party. So leave the cotton and perfume at home and make this a night to remember.
Even though Oslo is a small city compared to other capitals in Europe there are several places to buy fetish gear. After “Fifty shades of grey” also normal sex shops got some fetish wear, but often of low quality. The “Kondomeriet” in the high street (Karl Johans gt.) is more for fun than a serious sex shop.
This is probably the biggest sex shop in Oslo, and it has a part with leather, rubber and other fetish gear as a Mr.B shop in shop. They also have a large video department, with quite a good selection.
They have recently moved (OK, about half a year ago), to a street just above the Rockefeller Music Hall, and a couple of streets from Youngstorget. Keep in mind that you might not be able to try the stuff before you buy, especially rubber.
A hairdresser with something extra, a little gay sex shop. He has products from Mr. B, Barcode and other well known brands. He has good prices (also on haircuts). The store is quite small, it is definitely worth a visit. His store is located at the bottom of Grrünerløkka, but it might be hard to find so find yourself a map.
A franchise of the German company with the same name. They have some leather and rubber, and a good selection in lubes. Unfortunately the fetish gear are not of the best quality, but it is cheap. The store is placed near to the natural science museum, between two tram stops. Really easy to spot because of the big faces on the wall (As you see in the picture).
This is a small store, with quite a good selection of toys for men. It seems a bit sketchy, but it is better on the inside. You can find it between Grünerløkka and Carl Berner.
Tomorrow, on Saturday 12. September, there are two fetish parties in Oslo. An ordinary club night at SLM and a more mainstream party at Klubb 9.Klubb 9 is an event club in Oslo, it is in the second floor of the gay club Elsker (Kristian IVs gate 9, 0164 Oslo, Norway). This weekend they invite to a bold, sleazy and fetish themed night. A night with DJs, VJ and Norway’s best pole dancer.
The club opens at 22:00 and closes at 03:00. And dress code is at least one item of fetish gear. It is open to all sexes and preferences. It is not allowed to have sex at the venue, for that you have to go to SLM (which opens at 23:00).
So this will likely be an event full of curious people, those who want to check out fetishes and see what others are into. It might be a good place to show the pleasures of leather and fetishes.
Now that being said, I’m not going as I’m out of town.

Norwegians are very polite, so if you wear leather in public people would not say anything to you. But if you don’t look like a someone who rides a bike you will get stares. It is unusual to wear fetish gear visible in public and frowned upon in proximity to children, except in the yearly pride parade and pride area. Public nudity is not allowed (except in nudist areas), so no bare butts or showing cock, not even in the parade. It is quite funny as nudity in it self is not a problem, the biggest park in Oslo is full of nude men and women. And the national public television station had a children’s program with a detailed description of the body and the workings of sex.
Oslo has a population of just about 650.000, so it is quite a small city compared to other capitals in the world. The gay and fetish community is proportionally sized. Even so there is an gay fetish club Scandinavian Leather Men and other fetish clubs as Cat People. But both these two are only open every other weekend.
There is several gay bars and clubs in Oslo, most of them in the area around Hotel Bristol – just one block from Oslo’s main street Karl Johan. Here you can find “Elsker” (“Lover” in Norwegian), So (A bar mainly for girls) and the London Pub. The latter has been there since 1979 and has become an gay institution. It is quite seldom that you will find guys in leather or other visible fetish gear in these bars, but it happens, and maybe more frequent. I would recommend to check the Norwegian gay dating site www.gaysir.no for information about parties and events. It is also a good place to get to know Norwegian guys before coming here.
A note on the people. Norwegians are known to keep them self to them self and not be the first to make contact. If you are in a bar or a club you will see people just hanging around the bar alone. Most will appreciate some small talk if not more. Oslo (or Norway as a whole) is known for One Night Stands, so you might have some fun.
